Day 1! The Port of Los Angeles
The drive from LV to LA was a white knuckle adventure, but despite the best efforts of every car on the road, we made it safely to the Beverly Wilshire (of “Pretty Woman” fame) for a first-rate overnighter. I’m now ruined for 99.9999% of the other hotels in the world. Just, wow. We took an interesting walk up Rodeo Drive to see what people with too much money do for fun. They accessorize. A lot. Very entertaining.
And, we learned that the first day of a 198 day cruise is unpacking and unpacking and realizing you brought too much of everything….and people offering you drinks, non-stop, and seeming vaguely disappointed when you tap out by 2 pm.
